SUN PROTECTION FACTOR -SPF

A common question asked is what does SPF mean? The Sun Protection Factor (SPF) number tells you how long the sun’s UV radiation would take to redden your skin when using the product exactly as directed versus the amount of time without any sunscreen, so ideally with for example SPF 30, it would take you 30 times longer to burn than if you were not wearing sunscreen.

While UVB rays are responsible for visible sun damage, you also need to protect your skin from UVA rays. UVA rays are present all year round, whatever the weather, and can even penetrate windows and glass!

This is why it is really important to choose products with a broad spectrum sunscreen that shields skin from Both UVA & UVB rays.

So here are a few fun facts on how to protect your skin from the sun during the summer months ahead when your outdoors and more exposed to the sun.

* Liberally apply a broad spectrum sunscreen SPF 30 or greater to all areas of exposed skin 20 minutes before you head out the door.

* Wear a broad rimmed hat to protect your neck and face.

* Wear UV rated sunglasses to shield the delicate skin around your eyes and the eyes themselves.

*Avoid being in the sun during peak hours when the UV light is most intense, usually between 10am and 2pm.

Finally, while prevention is better than the cure, make sure you give your skin the extra care that it needs by applying Sunscreen with an SPF factor.
