Why Vitamin C is good for our skin.

Vitamin C promotes collagen production, which can thicken the dermis layer of the skin, to help diminish fine lines and is essential for firm, youthful looking skin.

Because of its antioxidant properties, vitamin C aids in your skins natural regeneration process, which helps your body repair damaged skin cells.

Vitamin C's skin saving benefits are not just limited to its antioxidant properties, It has a lot of other skin saving properties.

Because vitamin C is highly acidic when it is used on the skin, the skin is triggered to heal itself by accelerating the production of collagen and elastin. In helping to promote collagen and elastin in the skin, this can help to prevent premature ageing of the skin.

Vitamin C is a product everyone should have in beauty routine.

Products we stock  in the salon and online that have a good level of Vitamin C in them are the following:

Mesoestetic Energy C skincare range is a great way to get that vitamin C glow into your skin.

Mesoestetic AOX Ferulic  Serum is another great product that prevents and works against cell damage.

Benefits of removing your makeup at night.

Benefits of removing your makeup at night.

Sometimes it can be hard to remember to wash your face before bed, It can be tempting to just slide under the covers after a long, busy day!

During the day the surface of your skin builds up dead skin cells, oil, bacteria, sweat and other environmental debris.

The skin renews itself while you sleep, so sleeping with your  makeup on can lead to breakouts, which can cause blackheads and clogged pores, this can be detrimental for people that have sensitive skin or acne prone skin.

Not removing your makeup at night can also cause irritation to your skin and also cause your skin to age earlier.

That’s why it is important to use a makeup remover before going to bed, and then cleanse, tone and  moisturise your face to help your skin breathe and recover while you sleep.

Benefits of Sunscreen

SATURDAY EDUCATIONAL

SUNSCREEN

We all want youthful, and healthy looking skin. But overexposure to sunlight can increase the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.

Using sunscreen can help protect against the harmful effects of premature ageing or skin ageing.

Cosmelan Peel

What is Cosmelan?

Cosmelan is the worlds leader in depigmentation. Designed to eradicate dark patches (pigment) from the skin. Not only that, Cosmelan brightens and unifies skin tone.

How Does Cosmelan Work?

The unique, multi-ingredient, melanin-inhibiting depigmentation peel is suitable for all skin types.

The Cosmelan procedure reduces the skin’s natural melanin production by restricting the production of melanin to provide an even complexion.

Dull skin, dark spots, dry areas, blemishes, and even acne scars can all be significantly decreased with the peel.

The ongoing use of the Cosmelan II cream for post-salon treatment will continue to reduce the likelihood of the hyper-pigmentation returning.

Cosmelan is up to 95% effective for dramatically addressing areas of hyperpigmentation, melisma, and blotchy or scarred skin.

If you are undergoing any other skin treatments, especially ones which include glycolic acid, you must stop these completely at least one week prior to attending your Cosmelan Depigmentation treatment.

The Cosmelan Depigmentation treatment can only be administered by trained professionals and you should continue with the support products at home, on a daily basis, according to the guidelines indicated.

There Are Three Steps To The Procedure

Mesoestetic AOX Ferulic (Vit C) and Computer screens.

𝐃𝐈𝐃 𝐘𝐎𝐔 𝐊𝐍𝐎𝐖...?

BLUE LIGHT - How our screens are effecting our skin.

As with any other radiation, overexposure to blue light accelerates skin aging. With the increasing presence of devices such as cell phones, computers or tablets in our daily life, it is important that we know how to protect our skin.

We have highly internalised the damage caused by UVA and UVB rays on our skin, but ultraviolet rays are not the only ones to which we must pay attention. Today it is also important to become aware of how we should protect ourselves from blue light radiation from exposure:

* To sun rays

* To the screens of cell phones, tablets or computers, devices which are increasingly present in our daily life.

One of the damages caused on the skin is oxidation, and the acceleration of this oxidative stress is one of the main causes of skin aging.

Blue light also generates dryness in the skin, as it induces a reduction of aquaporins, the molecules responsible for maintaining skin hydration level. In addition, it activates the metalloproteinases that accelerate collagen destruction, causing signs of flaccidity and appearance of wrinkles.

Finally, contact with blue light can trigger the formation of spots thanks to a molecule called opsin 3, which is involved in the entire process.

Some products that act as a technological shield, protecting us from these damages, as they contain active substances that fulfil an antioxidant action. The antioxidant cell protector concentrate aox ferulic acts as a biological protector against oxidation caused by blue light sources. In addition, it enhances collagen synthesis and protects the cells responsible for producing it, promoting skin elasticity and turgor.

It is also important to get a sunscreen, which not only protects us from UVB and UVA rays, but also from visible light, and mainly from blue light. mesoprotech is the innovative range that offers the most advanced, complete photoprotection technology, by protecting against the harmful effects of UVB and UVA radiation, as well as against infra-red radiation (IR) and visible light (HEV).

AOX Ferulic is available in salon and online.

Top Tips for Surviving the Coming Colder Months

Winter is coming, and its the time of year, our skin, hair and nails really suffers.  So here is some of my top tips for keeping everything looking amazing over this colder season:

  1. Avoid hot hot showers or baths - Its easy to try and keep warm in water, but it washes away your skins protective layer, making it dry and tight.

  2. Use a thick body butter - Use this where you can, and often. This will help not only hydrate your skin, but protect it too against the drying effects of the bitter cold weather.

  3. Use night time to heal your lips - The perfect time to load up your lips with soothing, healing, hydrating balm. Our lips are always exposed no matter how much we cover up, and your lips will need some TLC at night time.

  4. Keep your hair glowing by using treatments - Much like our skin, our hair is often exposed to the elements. Using a thick treatment conditioner twice a week, will help lock in moisture and keep your hair looking soft and luscious.

  5. Avoid over washing your hair - Washing your hair not only cleans it, but It will strip out your natural oils that will protect your hair. Use dry shampoo to keep your hair looking clean.

  6. Don't leave your nails naked - Having something on them (shellac, Polish etc) will help keep them protected. A common myth is that your nails need to breath, this is just that, a myth. Your nails absorb oils, but they don't breath.

  7. Use regular cuticle oil - Much like everything else, our nails are often exposed to the elements. Keeping them hydrated, will not only keep them healthy, but it will stop those dry cuticles that we often chew away at when they are dry and scratching.

  8. Lotion, lotion and more lotion - Keep those hands and nails lotion'ed up. That will help protect your skin from the elements and keep them looking young and smooth.

  9. Wear Gloves - Chemicals etc will not only dry out your skin, but will strip your nails of their natural oils. Over winter you want to keep as much of those oils on your skin as possible.

Adashiko Collagen, why I love it and why I stock it in the salon

So I am a big believer in internal health as much as external. So when I started noticing one of my knees making a horrible sound, it started worrying me, and so I did my research.

Whats the one thing we need, but diminishes as we get older….collagen. So I again did more research and came across Adashiko Collagen, thought I would give this a try. The reason I did was I am able to put the powder into my coffee, a lot of powders aren’t heat stable, which means they become useless when you get them into heat. Im not a smoothie drinker, nor do I like taking things with water. The collagen is totally flavourless. I have heard of other brands that are good, but the after taste is horrible.

I had been on the Ultra Collagen for just over a month, when I noticed clients commenting on my skin a little more than usual. Not collating the two, I just kinda brushed it off, until my appearance medicine doctor (the lady who does my boxtox) commented on how great my skin was doing. I told her that I wasn’t doing anything new for my skin, but I was taking collagen for my knee….her comment…”well there you go”.

What I had noticed on my skin was when I didn’t have makeup on, my skin looked glowy and healthy, and that often I didn’t feel the need to cover it. From there I am now starting to notice stronger nails, and I am getting new fluffies growing in my hair (which means new hair growth).

The other thing I have noticed, is I have lost a little bit of weight, I don’t weigh myself at all (thats depressing), however, I am feeling good about myself. Nothing has really changed in my world apart from collagen powder. I did some research around the weight loss factors and side effects may include:

May Building muscle and fat loss

May Reducing cellulite

May Improve Digestive Health

It also suppresses your appetite due to the amino acid profile.

So overall, what started as an exercise in trying to protect the cartilage around my knee, ended up being a wee gem, a great find and my clients are loving it.

I have also been using their Collagen and Noni gel as well, this beautiful gel works perfecting morning and night, and goes on beautifully and if full of all the good things in life.

Everything I sell on my online store comes with the “Amber uses it guarantee”, I have tried and tested and love everything in my online store, and I know you will too.
